Senior Executives Visit MIT SCM
The Supply Chain Innovation and Leadership Series (SCILS) for this academic year has recently concluded with a presentation by Bill Sweasy, Chairman and CEO of Red Wing Shoe Company. He talked about why Red Wing has continued to manufacture certain product lines in the United States while producing other product lines in China - creating a supply chain with rapid response and low cost capabilities.
Throughout the year, senior executives from various companies have visited the MIT campus to share how supply chain innovation drives their company's performance in key areas. Some of the impacts highlighted include: high volume performance at Walmart, sustainability at Staples, global branding at Polo Ralph Lauren, and new strategic directions for Starbucks. Students also gained insights on managing change from the experiences of these industry leaders.
