PepsiCo Charges Ahead With Battery-Electric Big Rigs

SCM alum Adam Buttgenbach ’20 is powering PepsiCo’s EV revolution! The Wall Street Journal interviewed Adam about his transformative work as PepsiCo’s Director of Fleet Engineering & Sustainability, where he is leading the deployment of more than 1,750 electric vehicles, including over 100 battery-electric semi-trucks from leading OEMs like Volvo, Tesla, and Daimler.

Adam Buttgenbach (SCMb ’20), the director of fleet engineering and sustainability at PepsiCo, says there is still a sound business case for zero-emission trucks as the costs and challenges of operating the big rigs come down. Buttgenbach runs more than 1,750 electric vehicles in PepsiCo’s fleet, including more than 100 battery-electric semi-trucks from Daimler Truck North America, Volvo and Tesla.

Buttgenbach tells the WSJ Logistics Report what PepsiCo has learned from running the trucks in its operations, mostly around California.
