Lieutenant Colonel David Johansson is a United States Army War College Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Center for Transportation and Logistics (CTL). He received his commission as a Field Artillery Officer from the University of South Dakota “Prairie Fire Battalion” in 2002. He is a graduate of the Field Artillery Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Support Operations Course, Command and General Staff College. Prior to his arrival at Cambridge, Massachusetts, he was assigned to the 347th Regional Support Group, where among other jobs he served as the Deputy Commanding Officer and Base Operating Support Director for the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve Airbase in Erbil, Iraq. Previous non-command assignments include service as a Field Artillery Platoon Leader, Fire Direction Officer, Battery Commander, Battalion S4and Battalion Executive Officer in the 1st Battalion, 151st Field Artillery in Western Minnesota; Brigade S3 at 84th Troop Command in Minneapolis, MN; Brigade S4 Logistics Officer, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division; Deputy G4, 34th Infantry Division in support of Operation Spartan Shield, Arifjan, Kuwait; and S3 of the 347th Regional Support Group, Brooklyn Park, MN. His command assignments include: 24 months as Commander, C Battery, 1st Battalion, 151st Field Artillery, Morris, MN in support of Operation Iraq Freedom, Camp Buehring (2009-10), Kuwait; 18 months Deputy Commanding Officer, 347 Regional Support Group, in support of Erbil Airbase as part of Operation Inherent Resolve (2022-23). Lieutenant Colonel Johansson holds a Master of Business Administration from Southwest Minnesota State University. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with 1 OLC, the Meritorious Service Medal with 3 OLC, the Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) Campaign Medals.
